Navigating midlife is more complex than I’d ever imagined.
how about you?
If you’re like me, you’ve chosen to live in Santa Fe because it’s a land of abundant pleasures.
And like many of the gay men who now call Santa Fe home, you’re probably navigating the slightly choppy waters of later midlife.
The incredible decades of our 50s, 60s and beyond can be – and should be – years of celebrating the achievement of getting so far in life and aligning around what matters to you most.
This is why I’ve created the Mastering Midlife and Beyond Gay Mens’s Group.
Have any of these thoughts CrossED your mind lately?
√ How did my health become such a HUGE focus of my life?
√ What kind of community do I want to have around me as I get older?
√ How can I look at my body without getting bummed out? (You’re definitely not alone on this one!!!)
√ Who am I anyway? What is my identity at this stage of life? Am I becoming someone new or clinging to a past version of myself?
√ What does a healthy relationship with money look like going forward?
√ My sex life could use some invigoration. Is that even possible at this stage?
√ How can spirituality serve me moving forward?
√ I want to tap into my creative side. How can I unlock it?
You’re not alone in wondering about these questions. Whether you have the answers, or are simply sitting with the questions, the Mastering Midlife & Beyond gay men’s group is a great place to share.
Is the Mastering Midlife and Beyond Group For You?
Over the course of 4 months – September to December 2025 – we’ll gather weekly and in person for two hours to share deeply, listen powerfully, and support each other navigating the changing landscape of life from 50 and beyond.
I’ll provide the structure and facilitation of the group. You’ll bring your experience, your insight, your questions, and your energy to make this group great.
After getting to know each other, we’ll dive into the topics that are most compelling for guys like us.
I’ll provide a pre-session reflection exercise to get you ready to meet. And when together each week, we’ll go deep … sharing questions, offering insights, and opening up in ways that support each other powerfully.
By the end of the 4 months, you’ll have new relationships, new knowledge, a greater sense of ease, and elevated excitement about what’s ahead.
“Getting old is like climbing a mountain;
You get a little out of breath, but the view is much better!”
Meet Your Facilitator, David Alport
Hi. I’m David, and I’ve been living in Santa Fe for two years, following a lifetime in New York City.
I’ve been a midlife transitions coach for 11 years. Prior to that, I had a corporate phase (American Express), an entrepreneurial phase (creating gay travel publication OUT & ABOUT) and a humanitarian phase (United Nations).
I support individuals navigating through major career and life changes, with a primary focus on the many changes that come in the third part of our ever-longer lives. I’ve been deep in my own learning and growth journey, exploring the rich and sometimes complex journey of midlife as a gay man.
As a facilitator, I have led groups at the amazing Modern Elder Academy, the incredible founder’s collective called Hampton, and for Harvard Business School’s Alumni Forum program. I’m a master at holding a group and unlocking deep sharing and connection.
